Discovery Gateway Children's Museum

On July 21st, we went to the Discovery Gateway Children's Museum with MBASA. We got the awesome group rate, so I was willing to pay. Without, it's a bit expensive for my budget. I'm glad we were able to go. We ended up spending the entire day there. Brent decided to go to work a little late and drive into Salt Lake with us. Since we were there so long, we stayed until Brent was done with work, so we got to have another drive together. It was nice to have the extra precious time together.

The boys both had a lot of fun at the museum. There were tons of things to do. Even Derek could enjoy quite a bit. For lunch, we sat out by the Olympic Fountains and ate and the kids played in the water. It's a really cool fountain. Every 1/2 hour they do a water show - where the fountains are synchronized to a song. The fountains can be really powerful, but the kids just stay in them and play. Elliott really liked the mist that came out sometimes too.

The water feature in the museum is always a favorite - this was no exception.

Elliott loved the chance to be creative in so many different ways.

Elliott especially enjoyed figuring out how to get the ball through the pipes. He pretty much did it all by himself!

At first, Derek wasn't thrilled about the monkey. Then he realized he was okay. He started making monkey sounds and monkey faces. Nice resemblance, don't you think?

The life flight helicopter was a big hit. Elliott was thrilled to be the pilot. You could "turn it on" and it would make noise for a minute.

Since we were there all day long, Derek didn't have a nap - except for 30 minutes in the morning. Around 2:00, I changed his diaper while he was laying in his stroller and tricked him into staying laying down. It didn't take long before he was out. That was a wonderful 30 minutes. He never sleeps in his stroller, so I felt very fortunate indeed. He woke up and kinda freaked out, so fortunately, we were right by the water area, so he got right up and played and snapped out of it. It was a fun, long, tiring day.

What a cool museum, maybe we'll have to check it out.
